LAN News
Multiplay's i38 LAN located at Newbury Racecourse, United Kingdom is now behind us, and Team Infused are one of the few organisations which experienced a large proportion of success. Having had five competition rosters in attendance, all of the five teams surpassed expectations set by their respected communities, and some even went on to surprise the people who know every little detail about every team and their capabilities.

Starting with PC, both Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Male & Counter-Strike: Source were expected to defeat the majority of high calibre sides. COD4 Male definitely did this, taking down a variety of teams to go on to meet top British team of “Team Element”, a victory which gave them a ticket to the final, where they would face off against the all-Finnish side of Epsilon Esports. After a well fought game, our guys came out second best, but only after receiving a fair bit of attention from heavily viewed media websites www.tek-9.org & www.cadred.org (part of the Heaven Media organisation).

Our Counter-Strike: Source roster impressed many, but were argued to of been given a false seeding which effected their potential coming up against competition finalists in their second match. A victory in their first game against arguably the UK's fifth best team, “Wild Lions”, put them in high spirit, however a loss was received in the next round to “Power Gaming”, critics claiming the final scoreline was not a fair representation of how close the game was fought. The side finally went out to rival team “FragMasters Toxic!” after a series of delays due to technical problems.

Before going on in style, it became clear that “Nayden”, one of the key players for the event, was selected as a “Most Valuable Player” nominee – an award only given to the very best in Counter-Strike: Source.

Finally from the PC side, our Female team took part of the freshly announced Modern Warfare 2 tournament, and considering they had previously not played the game did extremely well. The format of the event was very unforgiving, and after having defeated their first opponent, went on to lose their next three games. Community website (www.cadred.org) were given the task of seeding the teams for the tournament, a system which rewarded our Female side right behind our Male team, who were just behind the likes of “FnaticMSI”, “Team Dignitas” & “Reason Gaming”.

Over on the console side of things and both of Halo 3 team and Gears of War team did absolutely brilliantly!

Halo 3 came into this event as underdogs, and do what underdogs do that did, upsetting the likes of “Team Dignitas” after having to fight through the loser brackets from the early stages. However the team rose up again and a video of the finals seconds against “Carbon” can be seen on YouTube, where all of the players get extremely excited as they secure at least a fourth place finish.

Gears of War are a true success story of Team Infused, having been interviewed time and time again on the run up to the event on how they are the underdogs, and constantly re-assuring people that they are attending i38 to win, the confidence paid off as they found themselves in the Grand Final against “Team Dignitas”, following an early victory of them in Round Four. In what was one of the finest console finals to of ever graced Newbury, Team Infused were left victorious after a back and fourth of rounds between rival British side “Team Dignitas”.

The Gears of War Grand Final can be found online and has been viewed by hundreds. The video is stored on Fileplay. All of the Video/Written media links mentioned in this file can be found below.
